About LLB Entrance Exams - CLAT , KLEE , CUSAT

The basic qualification required for an individual to join the LLB course is a pass in class 10+2 with above 50% marks. To get admission into this course aspirants need to write an adission test.

Admission to various Law colleges in India is through LLB Entrance exams conducted by different bodies . Some of the popular Entrance exams are:

  • Common Law Admission Test ( CLAT)
  • Kerala Law Entrance examination (KLEE) 
  • CUSAT Law Entrance
  • National Law School of India University (NLSIU) Entrance Test

Syllabus : Generel English  ,Basic Mathematics ,Legal Aptitude , Legal Reasoning , General Knowledge and Current affairs

CLAT ( Common Law Admission Test ) 

The Common Law Admission Test ( CLAT) is an ALL India entrance examination and is conducted by 14 national law schools/universitites for admissions to their undergraduate and post graduate degree programmes ( L.L.B & L.L.M).

Eligibility Criteria for Undergraduate Programmes:

1) Candidates should complete Senior Secondary school (/(10+2) from a recognised borad with 45% and above in aggregate (40% for SC/ST/OBC candidates)

2) No upper age limit is prescribed for appearing in CLAT-2016

3) Candidates attending the qualifying examination can also apply provided they pass the examination at the time of admission.

Eligibility for Post graduate Programmes:

1) Candidates should have obtained L.L.B/B.L Degree or an equivalent degree from a recognised university with not less than 55% marks in aggregate .(50% for SC/ST/OBC candidates)

2) Candidates who have appeared in the qualifying examination can also apply .


The test contains 200 Multiple Choice Questions

1) English including Comprehension

2) Elementary Mathematics ( Number Ability)

3) general Knowledge / Current Affairs

4) Legal Aptitude

5) Logical reasoning

Kerala LLB Entrance ( KLEE) 

Kerala Law Entrance Examination, for graduate and post-graduate courses in various government law colleges in Kerala,is conducted bythe Commissioner for Entrance Examinations,Thiruvananthapuram.

The admission to the various courses i.e the 5 year LLB course, 3 year L.LB course and 2 year LLM course,is based on the rank of the candidate in the entrance examination.

The test is conducted for the 4 Govt law colleges and self financing law colleges in Kerala. 

Govt Law Colleges : Govt. Law College,Thiruvananthapuram, Govt. Law College, Ernakulam, Govt.Law College,Thrissur, Govt. Law college, Kozhikode.

The Entrance Examination is of three hours duration and consist of 200 Objective type questions in (a) General English (65 questions),(b) General Knowledge (65 questions) and (c) Aptitude for Legal Studies (70 questions).

Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) is one of the reputed Institutes of Cochin that provides the various professional degree courses to the aspiring candidates. Institute is approved by

Government of India for providing education to the aspiring candidates . 


1) Pass in Plus 2 examination with 60% marks in Science group or 55% marks in Commerce / Arts / Humanities

2) Should not have completed 20 years of age on July 1st of the year of admission. 22 years in the case of SC / ST and OBC candidates.


The Test for B.B.A., LL.B.(Hons.) / B.Com.,LL.B (Hons.) comprises 150 objective type questions designed to test

1)Proficiency in General English (50 questions)

2)Ability in Reasoning and Logical Thinking (50 questions)

3)Proficiency in General Knowledge and Current affairs (25 questions)

4)Law Related Matters (25 questions). 

The maximum marks will be 450.
