Admission to various Law colleges in India is through LLB Entrance exams conducted by different bodies . Some of the popular Entrance exams are:

CLAT ( COMMON LAW ADMISSION TEST ) 

The Common Law Admission Test ( CLAT ) is an ALL India entrance examination and is conducted by 17 national law schools / universities for admissions to their undergraduate and post graduate degree programmes ( L.L.B & L.L.M).

Eligibility Criteria for Appearing in CLAT-2016

For U G Programme

1. Passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with the minimum of :-

(a) Forty-five percent(45%) marks in case of candidates belonging to Unreserved/OBC/(Specially Abled Persons) Categories and

(b) Forty percent(40%) marks in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST Category

2. Candidates who are appearing in the qualifying examination in April/May 2016 are also eligible for appearing in CLAT-2016 examination.
However, they shall be required to produce an evidence of their passing the qualifying examination at the time of admission, failing which they shall
lose their right to be considered for admission.

3. No upper age limit is prescribed for appearing in CLAT-2016

 Candidates are also required to fill their preferences for all National Law Universities at the time of filling online application form.

English including comprehension

The English section will test the candidates proficiency in English based on comprehension passages and grammar in the comprehension section. Candidates will be questioned on their understanding of the passage and its central theme, meanings of words used therein etc. The grammar section requires correction of incorrect grammatical sentences, filling of blanks in sentences with appropriate words, etc.

General Knowledge and Currents Affairs

The General knowledge will be tested on the general awareness including static general knowledge. Questions on current affairs will test candidates on their knowledge of national and international current affairs.

Mathematics

This section will test candidate’s knowledge on elementary mathematics, i.e. math’s taught up to 10th Standard.

Legal Aptitude

This section will test candidate’s interest towards study of law, research aptitude and problem solving ability. Questions may include legal propositions (described in the paper), and a set of facts to which the said proposition has to be applied. Some propositions may not be “true” in the real sense, candidates will have to assume the “truth” of these propositions and answer the questions accordingly.

Logical Reasoning

The purpose of the logical reasoning section is to test the candidate’s ability to identify patterns, logical links and rectify illogical arguments. It may include a variety of logical reasoning questions such as syllogisms, logical sequences, analogies, etc. However, visual reasoning will not be tested.

Note :

        ·         The provisionally selected candidates must deposit the requisite counselling fee of 50,000/-.

·         The adjustable counselling fee of 50,000/- deposited with the CLAT office will be transferred to the respective participating NLU where the candidate has finally
taken admission after the completion of the entire admission process.

·         The candidates failing to deposit the requisite counselling fee through the CLAT website by the specified date will lose their right to be considered for admission under CLAT-2016 and their names will be dropped from the CLAT-2016 merit list.

 Kerala LLB Entrance ( KLEE) 

Kerala Law Entrance Examination, for graduate and post-graduate courses in various government law colleges in Kerala,is conducted by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, Thiruvananthapuram. The admission to the various courses i.e the 5 year LLB course, 3 year L.LB course and 2 year LLM course, is based on the rank of the candidate in the entrance examination.

 FIVE YEAR LLB ENTRANCE

The test is conducted for the 4 Govt law colleges and self-financing law colleges in Kerala. 

Eligibility

1. Candidate should be an Indian Citizen

2. Should have passed the Higher Secondary Examination of the Board of Higher Secondary Education, Kerala or any other examination recognised by the Universities in Kerala with 45% marks.  ( Candidates who are appearing/appeared for the qualifying examination are also eligible to apply for the Entrance Examination.)

3. The applicant should have completed 17 years of age. There is no upper age limit for admission to the integrated five year LLB Course.

 The Entrance Examination is of three hours duration and consist of 200 Objective type questions in (a) General English (65 questions),(b) General Knowledge (65 questions) and (c) Aptitude for Legal Studies (70 questions).

For each correct response the candidate will be awarded three marks and for each incorrect response, one mark will be deducted from the total score.

2. Should have passed the Bachelor’s Degree examination with a minimum of 45% marks in aggregate . ( Candidates who are appearing/appeared for the qualifying examination are also eligible to apply for the Entrance Examination.)

3. There is no upper or lower age limit for admission to the 3 year LL.B Course.

 The Entrance Examination shall be of three hours duration and will consist of 200 objective type questions in (a) General English (65 questions),(b) General Knowledge (65 questions) and (c) Aptitude for Legal Studies(70 questions).

CUSAT LAW ENTRANCE

Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) is one of the reputed Institutes of Cochin that provides the various professional degree courses to the aspiring candidates. Institute is approved by Government of India for providing education to the aspiring candidates. 

 Eligibility

1) Pass in Plus 2 examination with 60% marks in Science group or 55% marks in Commerce / Arts / Humanities

2) Should not have completed 20 years of age on July 1st of the year of admission. 22 years in the case of SC / ST and OBC candidates.

 Syllabus

The Test for B.B.A., LL.B.(Hons.) / B.Com.,LL.B (Hons.) comprises 150 objective type questions designed to test

1)Proficiency in General English (50 questions)

2)Ability in Reasoning and Logical Thinking (50 questions)

3)Proficiency in General Knowledge and Current affairs (25 questions)

4)Law Related Matters (25 questions). 

The maximum marks will be 450.
